The Bulgarian national football team finally strikes first place, not in a championship though, but in a statistics for lost games.

The Bulgarians participated in six tournaments and played 17 games before reaching their first success, statistics show.

The first major win of the Bulgarian national team was at the 1994 FIFA World Cup, where they beat Greece with 4:0. That year the Bulgarians reached the semi-final and ranked fourth, which is a historical win and is still a record for the team. Back then, the nationals were led by coach Dimitar Penev.

The Brazilians top the chart for the most wins in world championships. Their team “Selecao” has won the most cups and is a five-time world champion.
