A 58-year-old Bulgarian woman is suspected of killing the man with whom she lived out of wedlock in Nice, France.

Iva Kuzmanova has been arrested and is expected to be charged with the murder of her helpless 91-year-old boyfriend, Jean-Baptiste Tomasi, according to nice.maville.com.

The body of the elderly man was found in his home in the quarter Cessole a Nice, where he lived together with the Bulgarian woman, only after at 11:30 pm Friday night Kuzmanova rang the bell of the neighbors asking for help. It turned out that Tomasi had been stabbed 14 times with a knife.

She was unable to provide any rational explanation about the discovery of the death and was clearly drunk. She has remained silent about the murder during her arrest.

The possible motives of Kuzmanova to commit the murder of Tomasi are not clear but the police have ruled out the possibility that she might have wanted to get the retirement pension of the old man.

Tomasi was a former official of the French police, and retired with a pension of 2000 French francs. Half of this money went to support his former wife living in a nursery home.

He is said to have met Kuzmanova during a trip to Bulgaria some 10 years ago. The two lived together but their relations are said to have worsened recently.
