Bulgaria Defense Minister, Anyu Angelov, has stated that he does not foresee redundancies at the Defense headquarters in Sofia.

Angelov, speaking after the Council of Ministers meeting Thursday, said that there is no need to reduce staff in the departments that are under the authority of the Chief of Defense. He added that almost all of the delayed payments to army officers have now been paid.

Angelov concluded that the full results of the Armed Forces review will be ready in September. He also rejected proposals that Bulgaria should recruit an army instead of maintaining one as he said the current way is cheaper.

Angelov stated on Monday that the administration of Bulgaria’s Army needs to be reduced by up to 30% as it is “unnecessarily bloated”.
