Russia Demands Explanation from Bulgaria over US Missile Defense

Russia has made a formal request asking Bulgaria for clarifications regarding the potential location of elements of the US missile defense in Europe on Bulgarian soil.

This has been announced by the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry Thursday night.

With respect to the recent statements made by the US Ambassador in Sofia James Warlick and the Bulgarian Prime Minister Borisov and Foreign Minister Mladenov that elements of the US missile shield in Europe might be located on Bulgarian territory, Russia has requested clarifications over the aims and essence of any US-Bulgarian negotiations in that respect.
