The UK media have reported that Dimitar Berbatov is likely to make a shock appearance for Manchester United in the league cup semi-final derby clash against Manchester City on Tuesday evening.

Berbatov was substituted on Saturday against Burnley with a feared re-occurrence of a long-standing knee injury but instead United boss Sir Alex Ferguson revealed that he only suffered a dead leg.

“I thought Dimitar had got a knock on the knee. It turned out it was a dead leg and we are having a look at that” said Ferguson.

United meet City in what is being seen as a test of their dominance over their Manchester rivals who after spending heavily have become one of the best teams in the UK.
