Negotiations are underway for the filming of a movie in Bulgaria, featuring California Governor and Hollywood star, Arnold Schwarzenegger.
The filming is to take place in the western city of Pernik, not far away from the capital Sofia.
The information was reported Friday by the Bulgarian news agency BTA, citing an official letter sent to the Pernik Mayor by the Bulgarian Movie Center “Boyana” and the US “Nu Image Boyana Films.” In the letter they request the use of the Pernik underground mine museum (Pernik is known as Bulgaria's Mining City) to film a movie with “Conan “ as working title.
The movie should be filmed in 2010 and the California Governor, whose political term expires in 2009, will play the main part.
The Pernik museum is a well-known attraction for movie directors and producers. “Conan” will become the fourth motion picture filmed there. The others are the Bulgarian “The Father of the Egg,” and “Waltzes and Tangos in the village of Bela Voda,” as well as footage from the French-US co-production “Hitman."
