The party of former Tsar and Prime Minister, Simeon Saxe-Coburg, National Movement for Stability and Prosperity (NMSP) is holding a special congress Saturday.

The party failed to win any parliamentary seats during the July general elections despite being in power for two terms. Simeon Saxe-Coburg resigned as leader in the election’s aftermath.

The NMSP delegates will elect new leader from the four announced contenders.

They include the former Minister of Economy and then Transport in the NMSP cabinet and Minister of State Administration in the three-party coalition cabinet, Nikolay Vasilev, the former Social Minister, Hristina Hristova, former Member of the European Parliament, Biliyana Raeva and the NMSP Deputy Chair, Iliya Lingorski.

Insiders say the battle will be mostly among the first two.

In addition to electing new leader, the 800 delegates will vote on amending the party code.
