Bulgarian striker Dimitar Berbatov is going to skip Manchester United’s game in Group B of the Champions League on Wednesday against the Turkish team Besiktas.

Berbatov will skip the match over a knee injury, the UK media reported Sunday after the striker remained on the bench during Saturday’s United win 3:0 over Everton.

United’s manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, confirmed that the Berbatov and Jonny Evans would skip the match with Besiktas on Old Trafford but said he hoped the two would have recovered fully for the game against Portsmouth on November 28.

Manchester have already qualified for the direct elimination phase of the Champions League tournament and the match against Besiktas is not seen as crucial.
