According to reports in the Indonesian press the Bulgarian government has made a USD 30 M investment in the fertilizer industry in East Kalimantan, Indonesia.

In a surprise report the Bulgarian government is also said to be interested in the coal potential in East and South Kalimantan, vivanews.com stated.

The Indonesian Foreign Ministry's Director General for American and European Affairs Retno L.P. Marsudi said Thursday that the investment which has been made by the Bulgarian government shows the foreign investors’ trust to Indonesia. The Bulgarian agriculture sector is also allegedly interested in Robusta coffee from Lampung.

A bilateral meeting between Indonesia and Bulgaria in Senggigi, West Lombok led to agreements on politic, economy, agriculture, mining and tourism. Both countries also agreed to increase the trade in the agricultural sector according to reports.

Marsudi concluded; “The improving political relation between Indonesia and Bulgaria is followed up by the partnership in economic sector which is focused on the mining and agricultural sectors.”
