Bulgaria’s President, Georgi Parvanov, adamantly opposes any attempts, regardless of their source, to damage the reputation of the State Agency for National Security (DANS).

The information was announced Saturday by the Presidential Office press center.

Parvanov has held talks with the DANS Director, Tzvetelin Iovchev, and has demanded a thorough analysis of all events and facts about the work of the Agency published in the last several months.

Earlier Saturday, during a briefing, Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov, accused his predecessor and leader of the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP), Sergey Stanishev, of illegally removing a 2008 DANS report from the Council of Ministers building in order to warn people, who were mentioned inside for their involvement in corruption practices.

Stanishev and BSP, on their part, issued an official statement that he never concealed or illegally removed any DANS information and reports.
