NATO Secretary General, Jaap de Hoop Scheffer, is recovering in hospital in Brussels after having a small blood clot removed by doctors.
An alliance spokesman said medical staff had carried out the procedure successfully and that the NATO chief was resting comfortably, the BBC reported.
The spokesman said de Hoop Scheffer will stay in hospital for a few more days for observation.
The 61-year-old is expected to make a full recovery, he said.
