Bulgaria PM-to-Be Borisov Presents His Govt Program to German Chancellor Merkel

Bulgaria's PM-to-be, Boyko Borisov, met Friday with the German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, at the congress of the Bavarian Christian Social Union in Nuremberg, Germany.

The news was made public Saturday by the press center of the GERB party. The GERB leader Borisov in Germany to attend the CSU congress together with the GERB Chair and Interior Minister nominee, Tsvetan Tsvetanov, and the likely new Bulgarian Foreign Minister, MEP Rumiana Jeleva.

Borisov has presented to Merkel, who is also the leader of the German Christian-Democratic Union, CSU's sister party, his government program, and has also introduced to her the future Bulgarian Interior Minister Tsvetanov.

"I would like to congratulate you on the indisputable victory at the Bulgarian Parliamentary Elections, and the mandate for forming a government that was given to you. As a future Prime Minister, you will have the crucial task of leading Bulgaria out of the economic crisis", Merkel told Borisov.

She also said that the fact that a fellow center-right party and fellow member of the European People's Party, GERB, was going to head another government in the EU was good news for her CDU.

In her words, this is going to help the EPP undertaking to promote a welfare market economy in Bulgaria and across the EU, and to aid for the carrying out of the necessary reforms.
