The Declaration of the right-wing Blue Coalition on the situation in Iran is a sign of the coalition's impotence, according to Lyutvi Mestan, a Deputy Chair of the ruling ethnic Turkish party DPS.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Blue Coalition leaders accused the DPS and the BSP of using political repression and election fraud just as the "regime of ayatollahs in Iran".

"I would not be surprised if the Blue Coalition tries to turn not just the situation in Iran but even the situation in the Arctic Ocean in a problem of Bulgaria's domestic politics", Mestan reacted.

According to Mestan, whose party is part of the governing three-way coalition together with the Bulgarian Socialist Party and the National Movement for Stability and Prosperity, the Blue Coalition was resorting to that sort of rhetoric as a final means of trying to attract political support. He further described as "lack of political competence".
