Bulgaria Front PM Runner Borisov Undergoes Leg Surgery

The leg surgery of Sofia's Mayor, Boyko Borisov, conducted Thursday morning has been successful and without complications.

The news was announced by the doctors from Sofia's Military Medical Academy, who also said Borisov will, most likely, be discharged Friday.

Borisov underwent a torn knee ligament operation.

The Mayor and informal leader of the Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria party (GERB) was injured during a football game in mid-May.

GERB ended ahead of the ruling Bulgarian Socialist Party at European Parliament Elections on June 7, and is slated to win the Bulgarian Parliamentary Elections on July 5, 2009.

Borisov himself is widely seen as the main factor behind GERB's popularity and his name is spelled as the future Prime Minister of Bulgaria
