500 kilograms of gold estimated EUR 10 M were stolen early Tuesday in Northern Italy.

Four masked bandits broke into the precious Metals company Coppo Luigi SRL located in the small town of Valenza, about 65 kilometers north of Genoa, Italian police reported, as cited by Darik Radio.

The robbers got into the building through a window after the company's chief, Pier Giuseppe Ponzano, arrived at work and deactivated the building's alarm system. They hit Ponzano's head just as he was entering the code to open the safe. Thy bound him to a chair and locked him in an office. Most of the stolen gold was not insured, officials added.

Coppo Luigi is a precious metals company that refines and sells gold, silver, platinum and other precious metals.
