Two Bulgarian nationals have been arrested in Greece for incitement of begging, local media reported.

The detained - a man and a woman - took advantage of other physically disabled Bulgarians and forced them to beg in the streets of Thessaloniki.

Greek police said the couple masterminded a network of people. The disabled lived in extremely miserable conditions and were transported by car every day to busy streets and locations close to churches. They received none of the money collected.

Local media reported the news by stressing that there is an invasion of Bulgarian beggars in Greece ahead of the Easter holidays.
