Thanks, Anastasia, but are we really independent? :-)

Hi wildthing,
I was having a conversation with a Ukrainian friend the other day, and he almost split his sides laughing when I told him I was moving to Bulgaria. As the conversation progressed, I told him I was planning on changing Bulgaria into a nation of optimism, to which he responded, "Don't break a nail!"
Bulgaria is independent, but I am certain the citizens simply have not heard the news yet. All of this takes time, and we know it shall not happen overnight or perhaps even in our lifetime. If nothing else, Bulgarians are quite resilient and intelligent underneath all the pathos. Bulgaria has survived where larger nations have faltered. Slow and steady wins the race. I would not be making this move if I believed otherwise.
