This comes as a real surprise to those of us living in Sofia. Who would have thought it?

AmMan, I presume that was sarcasm.

I don't know, I have a great quality of life. An increasing number of very good restaurants, lots of parks, Vitosha on the doorstep, skiing an hour and a half away, Greek beaches not much further, lots of reasonably attractive women who hop into the sack with great enthusiasm, minimal inter ethnic strife, a crap government that keeps itself busy stealing but is otherwise pretty benign, useless police who are easy to bribe and best of all - an airport 15 minutes from town and cheap flights to Milano for when it all gets too much.

What's not to like?

You make compelling points.

Az obitsham Sofia! I believe it is one of the coolest places in Europe at the moment. Wild, chaotic, balkanesque, in the making...what more could you ask for? By the way: I rather be ranked close to Rio and Istanbul. Zurich is for pensioners! ;-)

Well, I lived in Rio for 2 years and itВґs a very pleasant place to live. My apartment was right in front of Ipanema beach, so that helps. For million other people living in the favelas itВґs a different situation. But poor and rich reunite on the same beautiful beaches and watch the pretty girlf of Ipanema.

So that prepared me for Sofia. Everything is just a point of perspective. You can find Sofia a horrible stressful place, dirty, loud, horrible traffic or a great metropole with nice restaurants and nightlife (not only Sin City) where you can meet intereseting people.

In the moment I am a commuter between Varna and Sofia, so I can enjoy the beaches of Varna and the small town life, and the next week I can meet my friends in Sofia to go to pubs and clubs. For me the best combination.

P.S: Switzerland is for SpieГџer and Pensioneri. When became old and rich, that would be my place...
