“Tough talks are now to be held, if at all,” stated in the morning program of bTV, GERB nominee for Prime Minister Daniel Mitov.

The proposed cabinet is an amalgam, synthesis of experience and renewal - there are new people, there are ministers from the previous cabinet and we think this is the right solution for Bulgaria because we face many challenges, among them the economic recovery of the country, Mitov explained.

The composition of the cabinet is a result of talks between Daniel Mitov and Boyko Borissov and they reached an agreement when choosing these people. "When we talked, we looked for the right names for each position. There is no my or his nominee, we discussed the names that were on the table and we agreed what name is appropriate for what post," Mitov explained.

According to him, one should have in mind the political reality, the results of the elections and the politicians should understand that they cannot speak lightly about it. Democratic Bulgaria pose as winners, without being such, he said.

Any attempt to bypass GERB will be punished by voters, warned Daniel Mitov. An official invitation for talks will be sent to Democratic Bulgaria and There Is Such a People. We will lend a hand, stressed Daniel Mitov. He sees no point in negotiating with Stand up! Mafiosi Out! While there will be no talks with the BSP and MRF at all.

Otherwise, the former foreign minister in Borisov 2 cabinet from the quota of the Reformist Bloc explained that he became a member of GERB 10 days ago, and this is his personal choice. He returned to politics without a desire for revenge or malice.

He stressed that the core of Borissov's message is Bulgaria's pro-European and pro-Atlantic orientation. We are obliged to make attempts to achieve this for the sake of our voters, and if such talks do not take place, a real backstage government may come to power, Mitov was adamant. This would happen if a government is formed that people did not vote for.He gave the governments of Berov and Oresharski as examples.

For us, the most important thing is for the state to have a stable government, the situation is difficult because of the pandemic, and the geopolitical environment is unfavorable, he said. Bulgaria must have a government that has a clear-cut position and is a true ally of the EU and NATO, Mitov insisted. Exactly how GERB will react depends on the specific situation.

Asked if he could unite the right wing in Bulgaria, Mitov admitted that there are right-aligned political forces, but it is difficult to unite them at the moment. GERB is one of the most respected parties in the EPP and we will work to unite the right wing and bring people together, he assured. In the future, Mitov hopes that such project for a much stronger right-wing presence around GERB will be implemented. "GERB is the right-wing party, and everything else is small, we will have to talk less about common causes and goals," Mitov assured.

Regarding the National Plan for Reconstruction and Development, Mitov said that it is evident that Borissov was summoned to parliament not to comment on the Plan, but to be insulted. The plan has been submitted and if the MPs are interested in it, they have the opportunity to get acquainted with it and ask their questions, Mitov added.

Commenting on the relations with the Republic of North Macedonia, Daniel Mitov said the issue must be resolved. Skopje must follow its path for European integration, but the politicians in the RNM are behaving as if it is not them who aspire for EU, but us.

According to Mitov, serious talks on the implementation of the Treaty of Friendship and Good Neighborliness are forthcoming.
