Bulgaria’s Chief Health Inspector: Anti-Epidemic Measures Should Be Extended Till End-May

“Even in the previous order on the anti-epidemic measures, the first point is my proposal to extend them by another month. Yes, there is a slight decline in morbidity, but there is no way to contain the pandemic until the end of April. The restrictions will probably have to be in place until the end of May,” said for BNT, Chief State Health Inspector Assoc. Prof. Angel Kunchev.

'The hospitals have enoughcapacity to cope, but I don't know how long the people will last. Fatigue is huge. Reducing morbidity still does not mean fewer hospitalizations. It's too early to relax," said Kunchev.

As regards vaccination with AstraZeneca, he said that ther are somewhat higher risks for overweight women under 30, heavy smokers and taking contraceptives.

Ass. Kunchev said that the risk of side effects after vaccination is so small that it is worth the vaccination to be completed.

The state's chief health inspector stressed that there is no way to issue a vaccination certificate unless the second dose of the vaccine is administered.
