No link has been found between the AstraZeneca vaccine and thrombosis by the PRAC Committee of the European Medicines Agency (EMA). It is still unclear whether there is a link between very rare forms of thrombosis and the vaccine.

It is still unclear whether there is a link between very rare forms of thrombosis and the vaccine.

The EMA assesses whether vaccines and medicines are effective and safe enough to be admitted to the EU, Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein.

The Netherlands has paused vaccination with the AstraZeneca vaccine until March 28.

The reason for this was six reports from Norway and Denmark of people under 50 who developed severe thrombosis and a shortage of platelets after vaccination.

The Medicines Evaluation Board (MEB) found these reports worrying enough to recommend a temporary discontinuation of the AstraZeneca vaccine.

Previously, Denmark, Norway and Iceland stopped the AstraZeneca vaccine in response to other reports of thrombosis

Later, Germany, France, Italy and Spain, among others, also paused vaccination with AstraZeneza.
