Bulgaria: Six Parties Will Enter Next Parliament, GERB Is Leader

Elections | February 4, 2021, Thursday // 16:36|  views

Two months before parliamentary elections, the differences between the main contenders for power are melting away, shows a joint survey funded by Market LINKS and bTV, conducted among 1,000 people over 18 in the last week of January.

Six parties will be part of the National Assembly, according to the survey. GERB remains the first political force, 17.3% of respondents plan to vote for the ruling party. Second comes the BSP with 15.3%.

Slavi Trifonov’s party "There is such a people" would enter parliament as a third political force if the elections were now. Next up is the Movement for Right and Freedoms with 7.6%. Fifth is the Democratic Bulgaria – they get 5.4% voter confidence.

"Stand Up.BG" with 4,5 % will also make it to the parliament.

The data show the support rating of all Bulgarian citizens eligible to vote.

However, many people are still hesitant - 22 % say they have not decided who to support and 10% are adamant they will not vote.

Public disapproval of the country's development remains very high. In January, 66% of people gave a negative assessment. This level has been close to the political crisis in the middle of last year.

At the same time, gaining control over the second wave of COVID-19 somehow appeased the people, sociologists report.
