Wales and Scotland impose a mandatory 14-day quarantine for those arriving from Portugal. However, the rules for England and Northern Ireland remain unchanged. Critics say the difference between the countries is confusing.

The provisions for Wales enter into force at 4 am local time on Friday, and in Scotland they are introduced on Saturday. The number of people infected with coronavirus in Portugal in the last week has exceeded the threshold of the number at which the authorities are considering mandatory 14-day self-isolation.

The latest quarantine rules in Wales apply to travelers from Portugal, six Greek islands and French Polynesia. Britain is considering changes for those arriving from Greece, but for now our southern neighbor remains on the list of safe countries./Trud
