Greece Extends Requrements for a Negative PCR Test until September 15

Authorities in Greece have extended until September 15th restrictions on entry into its territory across the land borders of third-country nationals. The decision, published in the State Gazette, was announced in advance by government spokesman Stelios Pezas and Deputy Minister of Civil Defense Nikos Hardalas.

In order to prevent the protection of public health from the further spread of COVID-19 coronavirus on Greek territory, the crossing of the Greek land borders for citizens of Northern Macedonia, Albania and Turkey is restricted for the period from 1 to 15 September.

Tourists and foreigners who are not banned can enter Greece via Bulgaria through the Promahon (Kulata) border checkpoint if they have a negative PCR test done 72 hours before arriving in the country.

The remaining open border crossings with Macedonia, Albania and Turkey will be available to a certain category of persons, who must also present a negative PCR test. Citizens will be able to pass through them between 07:00 and 23:00.

The travel ban does not apply to Greek citizens and persons who have a residence permit or permanent residence in Greece, to travelers traveling for business or medical reasons, as well as to the transit of ambulances transporting patients for hospitalization in Greece. . The ban also does not apply to diplomats, members of the military or administrative staff of EU and EULEX member states in Kosovo./Trud
