British and Bulgarian officials will jointly investigate whether there is a link between the poisoning of Russian spy Sergei Scripal in Salisbury and Bulgarian businessman Emilian Gebrev in Sofia. This was made clear after a meeting of British Ambassador Emma Hopkins with Prime Minister Boyko Borissov, Chief Prosecutor Sotir Tsatsarov and Interior Minister Mladen Marinov.

What has the investigation done so far?

One of the suspects suspected of involvement in the poisoning of Russian spy Sergei Scripal and his daughter in the UK had come three times in Bulgaria in 2015. During the same period, the Bulgarian arms producer Emilian Gebrev was also poisoned. According to his signal to the prosecution, there may be a connection between the two cases. That is what the investigating authorities of both countries - Great Britain and Bulgaria are checking.

Emma Hopkins, np. Emma Hopkins, UK Ambassador to Bulgaria: For several months, we have been working closely with the Bulgarian authorities and investigative services.
