New humanitarian projects in Syria estimated at €50 million  will be funded by the French state through twenty non-governmental organizations, the French presidency said.

This was decided after an evening meeting in Elysee Palace between President Emmanuel Macron and representatives of non-governmental organizations. They will be tasked to present specific projects, particularly in the Idlib district, where the UN says there are about 1.2 million emigrants in the Ghouta area and the northwest of the country, in areas that have recently been relieved of the occupation of " Islamic state".

Non-governmental organizations attending the meeting include Doctors Without Borders, Kare, Handicaps International, French Red Cross, Action against Hunger, and others. The UN believes that 13 million Syrians, including 6 million children, need humanitarian assistance.
