Russian and US Ambassadors are Pleased with Bulgaria's Position on "Scripal"

The Russian Ambassador in Bulgaria, Anatoly Makarov, told Nova TV that the Bulgarian reaction to calling the Bulgarian ambassador from Moscow is understandable and correct. According to him, national interests should not be forgotten because of solidarity. Makarov added that Russia has always been and will be a reliable partner of Bulgaria and the European Union.

"I believe that Bulgaria's position in this situation is very reasonable and well-weighed, namely the decision of your Prime Minister - first to get evidence and then to make a decision, not the other way round. You can not forget your national interests because of solidarity, and I think such approach is wrong. I am confident that sooner or later righteousness will triumph and everything will come in place. Russia has always been and will be a reliable partner of both Bulgaria and the EU, "said  Anatoly Makarov.

Bulgaria's response to the Scripal case supports British and European positions, we are together in this united position. This was stated before Bgnes by Eric Rubin, US Ambassador to Bulgaria.

"I think the united response of the United States, the EC and other countries around the world is a sign of the seriousness of this situation. I think the most important thing is to give a clear sign that our countries are together in support of the UK. And the answer here in Bulgaria also expresses support. I think it is important that we are all united together in this response, "the US Ambassador said.

Regarding the Bulgarian response, Ambassador Rubin said: "Every country decides how it will respond in this situation, but the answer is in unity."

Deputy Chairman of GERB Tsvetan Tsvetanov said on bTV that Bulgaria would make the right decision on whether to expel Russian diplomats and in any scenario will show solidarity with the UK.

"We support the UK and we must also have a political solution. We can not talk about details and facts of the case - that are yet to be clarified. But there should be a high-level geopolitical solution. Bulgaria is part of the Euro-Atlantic pact and we are follwoing these values, "added Deputy Speaker of GERB. In his words, the Bulgarian government will make the right decision and set an example with many other countries that supported Britain by expelling Russian diplomats.
