The Lyulin-MO apparatus has started work successfully from the orbit of Mars, the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS) announced. The device is the product of development of the Space Research Institute and aims to measure the radiation to which the crew will be subjected to a future human mission to the Red Planet.

"Lyulin-MO" was launched into space in 2016 as part of the joint project of the European and Russian space agencies ExcoMars. Along the way, the Bulgarian apparatus worked impeccably and unique results were obtained for the radiation situation on the Earth-Mars route, reminded the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.

On 12 and 19 March 2018, the first test inclusions of the scientific apparatus were carried out and after a year of silence "Lyulin-MO" worked successfully. In mid-April 2018, we expect the inclusion of Lyulin-MO in full working order. There the apparatus will continue to measure the radiation situation.
