Bregovo (North-West Bulgaria, near the border with Serbia) remains in a state of emergency because of the risk of flooding. The level of Timok River has dropped by several centimetres, but the groundwater level has risen. Powerful hydropump is used for draining the water, reported BNT.

There is no water pollution, samples will continue to be taken over the next three days, said Neno Dimov, the Minister of Environment and Water, who arrived to check the situation in Bregovo on 13th of March.

Members of the socialist BSP Executive Bureau and the leader of the party, Kornelia Ninova, are also in the town. At the inspection of the protective facilities, Ninova said that a state policy on the management of dykes and dams was needed.
