Four night bus lines will cross Sofia from April 7 - a day before Easter. They will link major neighborhoods of the city and their routes will cross Alexander Batenberg Square, reports mediapool.
Night buses will run from 0am to 4am, and the cost will be 2 leva per traveler. This was announced by Deputy Mayor of Transport in Sofia Municipality Evgeni Krussev on Friday. The night lines will be marked with N and the corresponding number from 1 to 4. The first line buses will move from "Lyulin" 1 and 2 to "Mladost 4". The second route is from Obelya through "Nadezhda" to "Studentski grad". A third line will connect bc. "Ovcha kupel" 2 and "Levski" quarter, and the fourth will be from Druzhba 2 to Gotse Delchev. The four routes have a common stop on " Al. Batenberg" square. There they will stay for 5 minutes to allow passengers to have time to grab the bus. The buses on the four routes will run in 40 minutes.
The night travel will cost 2 leva, and the card will be sold by a conductor in every bus that will mark the date it is bought. Subscription cards for other public transport lines will not be available for night rides, since only daily trips are included in the price.
The night transport will run experimentally until the end of the year and its cost is estimated at 900 000 BGN. If the experience is successful, buses at night will remain permanent. The municipality expects the lines to be used by people with "active social life", foreign tourists and people working at night. A local government survey showed that 30% of outsourcing and IT companies need transport for their employees at night.
They would talk to them instead of taxi vouchers to buy them tickets for night buses. This is another attempt by the municipality to launch urban transport at night. A few years ago there were three such lines in the city, the crossing point of which was in front of the National Library. However, their traffic intervals were not synchronized.
