Sevda Asenova became European boxing champion for the first time in her career, after she won convincingly against her opponent Lise  Sandebjer (Sweden) in the final in the minimum weight class (48kg) for women at Sofia hall.

Three judges recorded an end result of 40:36 blows for Asenova in four rounds.

The 31-year old Bulgarian winner is from Russe  and, for the first time in her life, she managed to win the title despite her previous losses in two European finals- in 2007 and in 2014.

Two more Bulgarian women will compete for titles later on Wednesday – Stanimira Petrova in the 54 kg weight class and Denitsa Eliseeva in the 57 kg weight class.
