The Constitutional Court has declared inadmissible the request of President Rossen Plevneliev for an interpretation whether the head of state can call snap parliamentary elections in the last three months of his mandate without disbanding Parliament.

According to the judges, the stipulations of the constitution are clear and it is not within the powers of the president to disband Parliament in the last three months of his mandate but he may form a caretaker government.

This means that the future head of state Rumen Radev will disband the current Parliament and call snap parliamentary elections.
