Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım has withdrawn the draft bill which stipulated that a prison sentence for rapists can be repealed if they marry their underage victims.

The reasons for the withdrawal were protests in the country and disapproval of the draft bill abroad.

Yıldırım withdrew the bill at the last moment before it was finally approved by Parliament, reported BNR.
