Turkish President Recep Erdogan has stated that he is disappointed with the administration of Barack Obama due to its approach to refugees from the Middle East and the fact that it did not extradite Fethullah Gulen whom Ankara accuses of the coup attempt in July.

“They did not take up these events and did not approach these issues seriously,” stated Erdogan on CBS.

Erdogan added that the USA must hand over Gulen, an Islamic cleric who has been living in Pennsylvania since 1999.

The Turkish government and president accuse Gulen of the coup attempt, and undertook mass purges and arrests of people they suspect of being his supporters in Turkey.

Erdogan described the purges as lawful and appropriate. He reckons that, until the USA does not extradite Gulen, the Turkish public will believe that America supported the coup attempt.
