Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev is due to receive the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) at his office on Friday.

Plevneliev is holding political consultations with parties represented in Parliament seeking a way out of the political crisis that follows Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov's resignation.

The BSP is Bulgaria's second-largest political force and was the biggest opposition party under Borisov's tenure. The candidate it backed, Rumen Radev, won the presidential election on Sunday.

On Monday, meeting Borisov's conservative GERB party, Plevneliev announced he would call in the Consultative Council on National Security before giving political leaders an opportunity to form a new government.
