When calculating the results of the referendum initiated by Slavi Trifonov’s show, only the number of voters who have responded to each question individually will be taken into account.

A total of 6,832,288 people are eligible to vote.

“On Sunday, voting activity in the referendum will be calculated but it will take into account only the total number of respondents in the referendum. When calculating the final results, the number of respondents will be counted separately for each single question,” explained the spokesperson of the Central Election Commission (CEC) Kamiliya Neykova.

This has to be done because, by law, in order for the referendum to be successful, at least the same number of voters must have taken a part in it as the number of voters in the last parliamentary elections – 3,500,585. Since it is not mandatory to answer all three questions, the referendum will be successful only for the questions that have received sufficient voting activity.

In order for the results of the referendum to become compulsory, at least half of the votes have to be “yes” – at least 1,750,294 votes.
