Tension Between Turkey, Iraq Escalates

Tension between Turkey and Iraq continues to escalate after the Turkish army began the transfer of additional tanks and military equipment towards the border with Iraq.

Iraqi PM Al Abadi accused Turkey of getting ready to invade his country.

In response, the Turkish Foreign Minister Cavusoglu denied these accusations as insignificant and, in turn, accused Abadi of being impertinent.

According to Cavusoglu, Turkey will continue to take measures in order to protect its border with Iraq by reinforcing its military presence there.

At the same time, Cavusoglu underlined that Turkey does not have any claims with respect to the territory of neighbouring countries and supports Russia on the issue of maintaining Syria’s territorial integrity.
