The Black Sea city of Varna is to host some of the FIVB Volleyball World League matches next year, a volleyball official says.

The Palace of Varna has been preferred over Arena Armeec sports hall in Sofia for its more affordable rent, news website Dnevnik.bg quotes the secretary general of Bulgaria's volleyball federation, Vladimir Nikolov, as saying.

Bulgaria's team will be receiving Brazil, Poland and Canada within the World League next year, with the encounters scheduled between June 9 and 11.

Varna, along with two other Bulgarian cities, will co-host the world championship in 2018. The final match will be played in Turin.
