Turkish police have detained more than 70 people, including soldiers, as part of an ongoing probe into the failed coup attempt.

Forty of them are "high-ranking military officers," according to state-run Anadolu Agency.

Their list includes two colonels, a lieutenant colonel, three majors, three captains, one lieutenant and 30 non-commissioned officers from the Konya 3rd Main Jet Base Command.

The officers - based in Konya, in the country's central region - are accused of having ties to US-based Islamic cleric Fethullah G?len, DPA reports.

Ankara blames G?len and his movement (called by authorities FET?) for the failed coup attempt on July 15.

Seven other members of the military are also being sought.

Additionally, police have carried out raids in Izmir in the west and Elazig province in the east, nabbing 31 additional suspected G?lenists.

Turkey has formally arrested more than 30 000 people since the coup attempt by a faction in the military. More than 50 000 civil servants have lost their jobs and tens of thousands more have been suspended.
