Telecoms operator Telenor has been fined over BGN 5.2 M by the Commission for the Protection of Competition (KZK) because it misled customers about the speed of the 4-G network offered by the company for nearly a year and, thus, attracted clients by violating the rules of competition.
KZK’s decision was taken on October 14 but it was announced not by the anti-monopoly body but by the competitor of Telenor – Max Telecom. The suit against Telenor was initiated after Max Telecom filed a complaint against the Norwegian operator.
The fine of BGN 5,241,980 imposed on the company is 1% of the turnover of Telenor for 2015. KZK described the penalty as mild.
