Montenegrins are heading to the polls on Sunday in a key test of potential EU and NATO membership.

More than half a million voters, in a country of just 0.6 m, are eligible to vote, showing their assessment for the tenure of Prime Minister Milo ?ukanovi?.

The latter has campaigned strongly in favour of his country's Euro-Atlantic affiliation, arguing Russian will wield more influence on his country if he loses power.

Socialists for their part are accusing ?ukanovi?, the strongman in Montenegrin politics for more than a decade, of widespread corruption and cronyism.

Montenegro is on the way to becoming a NATO member and has progressed on the opening of a number of chapters in EU membership talks.
