Turkish police searched the Cassation Court and other courts with warrants for the arrest of 189 judges and prosecutors, reported Turkish media.

Ankara’s Chief Prosecutor has ordered the arrest of several members of the judicial bodies and the Ministry of Justice, including members of the Appellate Court and the State Council (Supreme Administrative Court).

Several of the people detained are suspected of using a special application for mobile devices via which the organisers of the coup on July 15 talked to each other.

According to Anadolu Agency, this is the ByLock application for encrypted messages. Intelligence services have begun to decode conversations and messages in the application sent between May 2015 and the unsuccessful coup attempt.

During the week, the purge continued – 2,400 teachers were dismissed with a decision of the Education Ministry on Thursday. On the same day, 109 judges were suspended from military courts.

Nearly 100,000 people have been dismissed or arrested in the purge after the coup and 32,000 await trials.
