Russian President Vladimir Putin has cancelled his visit to France for a meeting with his French counter-part Fran?ois Hollande, reported Reuters.

Earlier, the French President questioned the expediency of a meeting with Putin after Russia rejected in the Security Council of the UN the draft resolution of France and Italy for the creation of a no-fly zone over Aleppo.

The meeting between Hollande and Putin was supposed to take place on October 19.

“The president decided to cancel his visit. The issue is that there were several events related to the launch of a Russian cultural-spiritual centre, the opening of an exhibition. But these events were cancelled and the President decided to cancel his visit.”

The leaders of the Normandy Four (Russia, Ukraine, France and Germany) will discuss the conflict in Ukraine on October 19 in Berlin, stated Russian Ambassador to Paris Alexander Orlov, cited by TASS.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel invited the three leaders for talks and dinner in Berlin on October 19. During the first part of the day, President Putin was supposed to visit the French capital.

Berlin has not confirmed the meeting will take place.
