Svetoslav Vitkov (Vox Populi) and Ivan Velkov (the Greens) who were candidates for president and vice-president will appeal the decision of the Central Election Commission to take them out of the race, reported bTV.

CEC announced that Vitkov and Velkov cannot participate in the presidential elections because they have not presented the 2,500 valid signatures needed.

The two of them still do not know why the signatures collected by them have been considered invalid in order to argue for the appeal better. They assume it is a matter of duplicate signatures.

We had little time to collect the signatures twice – first for a coalition that did not come into being and then, for a second time, on behalf of an initiative committee. We have more signatures in the office which we did not deem necessary to submit.

The two of them said that they do not feel particularly aggravated by this development of events and they are getting ready to partake in the next parliamentary elections.

“Having seen what titans we must fight, perhaps it is better to remain mere observers,” said Velkov.
