BNB: Bulgarian Banking System Profit Exceeds BGN 1 B

The profit of the banking system in Bulgaria exceeded BGN 1 B, showed BNB data for August, reported BNR.

August is the month when the results of the stress tests in the system came out.

The profit of the banking system for the first eight months of the year is BGN 300 M higher than for the same period of2015. The main reason is the decrease in expenditures on the devaluation of credits and payments.

Capital adequacy and liquidity remain at a very high level. BNB also reported a minimum growth of the credit portfolio.

Deposits also continue to grow in spite of decreasing interest rates.
