The world's first ever hydrogen hybrid sweeper, developed in Bulgaria, is to be officially unveiled in Birmingham on Wednesday.

The sweeper, which guarantees "ultra low emissions", will be launched at the Energy Event, a key event for energy and utilities procurement professionals held this year at the National Exhibition Center (NEC) of Birmingham, at 11:00 BST.

Stock Sweepers LTD have been working in collaboration with Water Fuel Engineering (WFE) to develop a low emission auxiliary engine, which powers the vehicle’s brushes and vacuum.

WFE, established in Bulgaria, developed Oxy-Hydrogen technology from an armament factory in Sofia.

The WFE HydroGen 3.1 electrolyzer works synergistically within the conventional diesel engine to introduce oxy-hydrogen gas into the combustion chamber. The richness of the mix reduces fuel consumption by at lest 15% and
emissions by as much as 80%.

“We have all become accustomed to having clean streets in our towns and cities thanks to the huge improvements in Road sweepers in the last 10 years”, Jeff Stock, MD of Stock Sweepers, has commented.

However, he has asserted that the latest modification to its latest generation of vehicles the company has "really made a 'clean sweep'."

"With modern legislation we need to be sure we don’t just leave the streets clean, but the air as well, and this vehicle can boast the lowest missions of any Sweeper on the market.”
