Close to 200 people in Bulgaria's Plovdiv protested over the suspicious fires that burned in the historic tobacco warehouses in town.

Many of them brought flowers as a symbol of the "death of cultural monuments in the country". The protest was joined by painters, artists and public figures, who came to town especially for the demonstration.

Part of the protesters expressed their opinion that the fire was in fact an act of arson.

"Local and regional government did not do their job and allowed for a historic monument to be destroyed. The building should have been protected and whoever is in fact is responsible for that act should go to prison,'' they added.
