Turkish conglomerate Limak Holding has said it is exploring "privatization" options for Sofia Airport.

Limak's investment arm has been shifting its focus from traditional European markets in favour of Eastern Europe and Africa.

“There is a privatization process for Sofia Airport. We are looking into it. They will collect bids in the autumn,” H?rriyet Daily News quotes Ebru ?zdemir, Limak Investment Chairwoman, as saying.

“There may be new opportunities in Africa... We are looking into airports in Eastern Europe. I think we can do airports anywhere in the world.”

Bulgaria has not announced a privatization process for Sofia Airport, the country's biggest airport, so far.

The government announced earlier this year it wanted to grant a concession on Sofia Airport, hoping to get BGN 1.2 B in fees over 35 years.

H?rriyet also says Limak aims to bid in the concession procedure.
