Bulgarian Court Annuls Decision for Higher Prices of Vignette Stickers

Bulgaria's Supreme Administrative Court annulled the decision of the government which had introduced higher prices of vignette stickers at the beginning of the year.

The ruling of the three-member jury is subject to appeal within fourteen days before a five-member jury of the court.

The motive behind the court's decision is that important legislative procedures had not been observed when determining the new prices of vignette stickers.

A month ago, the supreme administrative prosecutor's office decided that there are grounds to consider the complaints submitted by citizens and NGOs after the new prices entered into force in the beginning of the year.

The Road Infrastructure Agency (API) stated that the current prices remain in force as the decision of the court is not final. Regional Minister Lilyana Pavlova said that the ministry will appeal the decision.

The annual price of vignettes increased from BGN 67 to BGN 97, the monthly one rose from BGN 25 to BGN 30, while that of a weekly sticker increased from BGN 10 to BGN 15.
