Three men, of whom one is a Bulgarian citizen and the other two from Syria and Iraq, have been taken to custody after a fight in downtown Sofia, police say.

The incident occurred in the area of Lavov Most ("Lions' Bridge").

Two of those who took part in the scuffle were injured, the Bulgarian being wounded in the face and one of the migrants having a broken rib.

It is not yet known what led to t he incident. The Bulgarian national maintains he tried to protect a woman whom the migrants were harassing in the street.

Many migrants live in the area of Lavov Most, and occasional incidents are reported. In January, three Afghans were left injured in a  mass fight not far from the bridge.
